The Challenge
The Sydney Swans Royal Hall of Industries project involved the complete refurbishment of the iconic building, whilst maintaining its heritage significance. The world class facility includes sports centres, gyms, academies, commercial kitchens and cafes.
Construction company, FDC Constructions oversaw the completion of the project, contracting Magic Glass to take care of all glazing works. This involved the replacement of heritage glass with new performance glass, as well as the installation of aluminium framed windows and fixed panels, frameless pivot and automatic doors, bi-fold units and high crowd load rated glass fit-outs.
The Solution
Magic Glass was successful in completing the project. Our team replaced all 2262 heritage glass panels on the exterior of the building with 4mm low-e toughened glass, as well as fitting-out the internal field of play with acoustic rated, laminated glass.
Our team had to meet specific load requirements for different areas of the internal fit-out. We installed C3, C4 and C5 crowd load rated glass, using standard, Hush, and heat-soaked laminated glass where necessary. All glass was custom-made by our fabrication team and installed by our glazing team.
The Feedback
“Magic Glass has done some amazing work at the Royal Hall of Industries. They’ve changed over the heritage glass and are working on the interior glass now as well.” said Jay Jones, Leading Hand at FDC.
“This is my first time working with Magic Glass and the experience has been great! They’ve delivered the project on time, they take great pride in their workmanship, and the quality of their work has been outstanding. I’d definitely recommend Magic Glass for any future work.”
